South Italy, Greek colony of Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. Pottery bell krater of the type used by the ancient Greeks in preparing a mix of water, wine and spices. Flared foot, bell-shaped body with twin up-sweeping handles. Decorated in red-figure technique on each side with a Lady of Fashion portrait, wave above and Greek key below. Attractive example!
