Spanish Colonial inspired Mexico, inscribed with Zacatelco, Tlaxcala and the date 1-21-48, presumably 1948. A beautiful silver censer (incense burner) vessel intended for a relgious context, created in two parts and suspended from three long chains with a confirming rim in the center, the upper section featuring four floral openwork panels for ventilation and decoration, beautifully raised and chased with flowers blossoming from leafy tendrils, with a raised cupula like form in the center, the lower section finely delineated in a scallop or petal-like pattern in repousse, the censer container on a flared pedestal base featuring the following inscription, "Refugio Barreto Dona El Presente A La Virgen Sra Ines Zacatelco Tlax(cala)" Size: censer container measures 5.5" in diameter x 7.5" H (14 cm x 19 cm); 34.5" H (87.6 cm) when fully extended; Weight: 3,183.65 grams

Condition
Expected tarnish and minor bending to peripheries commensurate with age. Small loss to lower section of censer. Engraved inscription is difficult to read in some places; however, see our interpretation below.
