New World, US Southwest, Navajo or similar style, ca. mid 20th century CE. A bolo tie with a braided leather cord and a rectangular silver ornament studded with fifty-three pieces of jet, coral, and mother-of-pearl, twenty-one of which are turquoise, eight spherical pewter beads, and two pieces of incised yellow-colored shell. The stones resemble a dancing Native American figure wearing the traditional ceremonial garb of his tribe. Two silver dangling tips hand from each end of the braided cord, and a metal clasp on the back of the ornament has "BENNETT PAT. PEND. C3L" engraved on the back. The ornament itself has many small metal flaps holding the inlaid backing in place, and the periphery displays a repeating semicircular motif. Wearable and quite stylish! Size: 2.375" W x 3" H (6 cm x 7.6 cm); Size of leather cord: 21" H (53.3 cm).

Wearable as shown. Fraying to braided leather cord, two stones missing from inlaid design, and minor losses to inlaid backing. Minor tarnishing and oxidation to silver areas, but very stylish.
