Plate 66 from Birds of America Double Elephant folio, Robert Havell first edition, aquatint and etching on Whatman's woven paper, Latin name Picus Principalis, hand colored etching of male and female Ivory-Billed Woodpeckers.
Aquatint and etching on wove paper
38 3/4" x 25 5/8",
Signed lower left within the plate "Drawn from Nature and Published by John J. Audubon", printers information "Robert Havell- London 1829" lower right.
From the collection of an East Greenwich, Rhode Island gentleman.
Condition
Laid down on a less than 1/8" thick cardboard backing, toning to paper and small tear in upper left corner, otherwise good condition, inspected out of frame.
