The Birds Of America By John James Audubon. Was published by The MacMillian Company (New York) on 1937. With an Introduction and Descriptive Text by William Vogt. 500 full-page color facsimiles. The book is approx 9 1/4" x 2" x 12 3/4". Is in a good, vintage condition with shelf-wear on the cover, along with some discolored pages and an hand-written gift note on the 1st page. Written by naturalist John James Audubon, the Birds of America is one of the most prized and collected books of all time. In addition to the stunning colors and detail in Audubon's work, it is noteworthy also because of its ambitious scope: to paint every bird in North America. Six of the birds painted have become extinct since its publication.
