Benjamin Chew Framed Signature and Portrait. Framed together, an engraved portrait in profile of Benjamin Chew (1722-1810) along with his signature (likely cut) in the closing of a letter dated 1808. Chew was a Philadelphia lawyer, friend of George Washington, builder of Cliveden and chief justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Included with this lot is some biographical material on Chew, including the notes of the previous owner. From the Albert J Raman collection. 17" X 21" overall.
