Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A fine mold-formed bronze amulet depicting a male figure with a broad chest, short triangular arms, and an expressive bearded visage. Stemming from the lower body is an enormous phallus and a similarly-sized set of testes. This amulet was perhaps created as a votive object meant to be left at an altar or temple as a sign of religious devotion. Covered in thick layers of green and russet patina, this is a wonderful ithyphallic example! Size: 1.1" W x 2.125" H (2.8 cm x 5.4 cm).
