Description
A Roman bronze phallic amulet, 1st - 3rd Century AD, in the form of a torso with ridged suspension loop at top. Phallic amulets such as this example were suspended from bronze lamps and other objects for protection against evil spirits and for general good luck. 37 x 27 mm. Nicely patinated. Ex Gerhard Hirsch, Munich, Germany.
