Description
17th century AD. A sheet iron helmet with overlapping seam across the skull, additional plate rivetted to the forehead; subsequently flattened at the apex and pierced at the sides to accept two large rings and a length of ornamental chain for use as a hanging cooking pot. 766 grams, 22.5 cm (8 3/4"). From an old Worcester collection; found River Severn, near Bewdley close to the place where retreating Royalist forces crossed the river after the Battle of Worcester.
