Archaic Period, 7000-1000 BC. Three groups in old card trays with old labels comprising: a bifacial corner-notched point with inked 'Ohio' notation and inked label giving details and a reference to 'Ohio Arch. Oct. 63, p. 95'; group of three bifacial points in grey chert each with inked 'Ohio' notation and inked label 'Arrowheads Ohio, Gift from R. R. Carek'; group of four bifacial points in pink to orange chert, one triangular, one with single side notch and two corner-notched to give flared and straight tangs, each with inked 'Northern Ohio' notation and inked label 'Northern Ohio flint arrow points of various types and ages'; each group in a card tray. 69 grams total, 27-58 mm (1 - 2 1/4"). Ex Pickard collection, Surrey, UK; thence by descent 1978; formerly in the collection of Dr. Stanley Copeland in the 1930s; found Ohio, USA, by Robert R. Carek in the 1930s. Robert R. Carek of Lorain County, Ohio was a nurseryman with an interest in Native American history and artefacts who corresponded with Dr Stanley Copeland, a well known US collector (some of whose material was acquired by Walter Sims and, subsequently, by Cliff Bauer").
