Ancient Central Asia, Indus River Valley, Mehrgarh, ca. 2600 to 2500 BCE. Buff clay figurines from Mehrgarh are the oldest clay figurines that have been found in Central Asia. This example is detailed with a large and elaborate necklace and pectoral draped between two prominent breasts, rounded shoulders, full lips, circular eyes, and an arching hairstyle. Although her arms are missing, she probably once held a baby, hence the term "mother goddess." Comes with custom wooden stand. Size: 2.125" H (5.4 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.
