Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A beautiful paste glass intaglio of an ovoid form and a pale cerulean hue displaying a standing field worker holding a hoe and a basket on his/her back. The letters "ITH" are inscribed behind the figure, and "AMA" is inscribed in front. The intaglio is set within a 19th century CE 18K gold setting of an Etruscan style with a solid band, trifurcated terminals, and an ovoid bezel with concentric borders of ringed and segments bands. A fabulous and wearable example from the early Roman Empire! Size: 0.875" W x 0.8" H (2.2 cm x 2 cm); total weight: 10.5 grams; gold quality: 18K; US ring size 6.5.
