Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Cow's Head Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a cow's head with long, flat horns. Slip-trailed "4" above. A difficult-to-find figural motif in 19th century American stoneware. Very nice condition. A thin 1 1/2" crack from rim above one handle. A 1 1/2" horizontal line in same handle. A salt drip to front.
