MID-ATLANTIC RAIL FENCE PIECED QUILT, hand-stitched 736 blocks each with four feed-sack material rails, a total of 2,944 pieces, concentric diamond quilting, applied bias binding, two-paneled powder blue polished cotton backing. Label for The Virginia Quilt Project on the back, date 6/10/89 and registration number LE-32. Circa 1930. 62 3/4" x 86 1/4".
Very good condition with overall light soiling, top with several small stains/spots, light wear to binding, backing with fading, discoloration edges, several stains, and some pulled threads.
Provenance: From a Northern Virginia private collection._x000D_
Purchased in 1982 at an auction in Hancock, MD.
