Description
An Egyptian New Kingdom blue glazed faience ring, 18th Dynasty, Amarna Period, c. 1353 - 1336 BC, the oval bezel with a lotus blossom, the shank repaired but surprisingly without any restoration. 23 x 20 x 12 mm. Nice bright blue color. Many bezels as well as molds that made them were unearthed at Tell el Amarna by Sir Flinders Petrie and others. Cf. Petrie, Tell El Amarna (1894), PL. XVI213-215 for near identical examples; Ex estate of Maria (Lila) Decatur Mayo Deyo Garnett, niece of Ruth Deyo; Ex collection of Ruth Deyo, acquired early-mid 1900's. Mrs. Deyo was a world-renowned musician and personality, well-known for her appreciation of Egyptian culture.
