Description
Near East, Persia (Iran), Nishapur, ca. late 10th century to early 13th century CE. A pretty glazed vessel with a barrel-shaped body, a diminutive disc-shaped foot, and two lugged handles on its long neck. The mouth flares outward into a broad lip/rim. The body is gently ribbed, while the neck and mouth are smooth, but the pattern of craquelure on the glaze gives them a textured appearance from a distance. The glaze is thick, in the classic Nishapur style, with hints of a blue-green color, especially around the neck. Size: 3.5" W x 6.1" H (8.9 cm x 15.5 cm)
