AFTER JACOPO AMIGONI (ITALIAN, 1682-1752) GENRE PRINTS, LOT OF TEN, hand-colored, comprising a set of four allegorical depictions after the series "Elements", titled "Earth", "Air", "Fire", and "Water", lettered under bottom right corner of image "Burford Ex.t", five examples after the series "Sciences", titled "Architecture", "Music", "Painting", "Astronomy", and "Poetry", the first three lettered "Printed and Sold by R. Marshall, No. 4, in Aldermary Church Yard, London", and the latter two lettered "London, Printed for Rob.t Sayer Map & Printseller at the Golden Buck near Serjeants Inn, Fleet Street", and a larger example after the series "Elements", titled "Water", with later attached paper border for reinforcement. Unframed. After Jacopo Amigoni, a.k.a. Giacomo Amiconi. 18th century. Most 14 1/2" x 10 1/2" OA or 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" OA, larger "Water" example 18 1/2" x 12 1/8", not including applied margin.
Largest example very good overall, with expected minor toning, expected fold-line, and repaired minor tear to one edge along fold-line, remainder poor to fair condition, heavily toned, and brittle, with minor losses to edges throughout.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, VA. All proceeds to benefit the Collections Acquisition Fund.
