18-STAR AMERICAN NATIONAL FLAG, wool, navy blue canton with double-appliqued cotton stars in unusual 4-3-4-3-4 pattern, sewn canvas hoist retaining likely original rope, inscribed "DOROTHY HALL / W. J. ROBERTSON" and bearing stenciled 10" x 6" mark. Unframed. Possibly made to commemorate Louisiana statehood. 19th century. Approximately 72" x 120".
Excellent overall condition with minor wear, fraying, and losses. Old repair to one corner of fly and minor old repair to canton field.
Provenance: From a private Rhode Island collection.
