BRITISH HISTORICAL RELIGION / FOLKLORE VOLUMES, LOT OF FOUR, including John Fox, "Fox's Book of Martyrs: The Acts and Monuments of the Church", 1845, George Virtue, London, editor John Cummings, being Volume III alone, engraved portrait frontispiece "John Calvin", marbled endpapers/pastedowns and page ends, impressed burgundy leather boards gilt border decoration, ribbed spine with green labels and gilt lettering and decoration; and Charles Mackay, "Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds", 1852, Office of the National Illustrated Library, London, Volume II only, engraved frontispiece "Pope Urban Preaching the Crusades", likely original impressed cloth boards, gilt lettering and decoration to spine.
John Fox example very good to excellent condition, with minor wear to boards/spine, with some moderate wear and surface losses to spine joints, and corners bumped, interior very legible, with expected toning, some scattered minor foxing, Mackay's example in good condition, with moderate wear to boards/spine, corners bumped, interior remarkably clean and very legible, with expected minor toning and some scattered minor foxing, somewhat loose from spine, but binding still intact; remainder in poor to fair condition, with significant wear and losses to boards/spines, interiors remarkably clean and very legible, with expected toning and some foxing/staining.
