ISAAC TODD (AMERICAN, AC. 1807-1812), HOLLOW-CUT SILHOUETTE PORTRAIT OF A LADY, EARLY 19TH C., H 3":DEPICTING A YOUNG LADY WITH WATERCOLOR HIGHLIGHTS TO HER HAIR, EMBOSSED "TODD'S PATENT" TO PAPER BELOW, BACKED WITH A PAINTED PANE OF GLASS, HOUSED UNDER GLASS IN A PERIOD FRAME WITH EMBOSSED GILT METAL COVER MEASURING 5 3/4" X 4 3/4". PROVENANCE: COLLECTION OF REX LAMOREAUX (1919-2008), DETROIT, MI. DONATED TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY PIONEER AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY, PONTIAC, MI.
Condition
With foxing and toning, along with some loss to paint covering backing pane of glass. The frame with areas of loss, discoloration and cracking to gilt metal cover, and much cracking and flaking to wood frame (visible to verso). (MK)
