Lakota butcher knife and beaded sheath - late 19th c. cm 26 x 8 (10.2" x 3.1") Weight: 230 g. Sheath finely decorated with Murano beads from 19th century, typical design beadwork of the Plains Indians made in white, red, yellow, blu and turquois beads. Seven tin cones dangle from the superior side of the sheath. On the back, a red cross with a white center. The knife is a butcher type, obtained by the Lakota from exchanges with white people at the end of 19th C. Great age patina, not marked blade. late 19th C. Provenance: European collection. Before, directly from the Rosebud Sioux tribe. Stand not included.
