Item Details

Description

Carved wooden mask with rattan basketry for wearing. Such masks are worn in the initiation rites of men's associations. Those adorned with copper plates were formerly worn in ceremonies celebrating brave warriors. This mask appears to have a well worn surface suggesting possible use. This lot does not include a display stand, however one can be provided for an additional $34.00 after the auction. The mask measures 10 x 7.5 x 11 inches deep ( front to back) that is not counting the hanging grass and rattan regalia. Shipping wight of 5 lbs.
