Description

This is a contemporary carved wooden post from the Dogon peoples, Mali, West Africa. Traditionally such posts were part of the men's meeting house and were considered sacred images. Despite the well handled and weathered appearance of this mask, it was most likely carved for the art trade. The statue measures 37 inches tall on professional custom base.

Condition

Well weathered and worn wood, stable strong condition.
