A carved wooden image of an ancestor figure on the back of a tortoise. Such figures were likely carved as curio's for early travelers. Kongo peoples, DRC / Congo, central Africa.This is an antique example and measures 9.25 inches tall.

Condition

Weathered and eroded, loss to one turtle leg and some of the base.
