Description
A nice stone stirrup-shaped rocker-arm pestle, Costa Rica, c. AD 100 - 500, Atlantic Watershed style, nicely carved in grey volcanic stone with two inverted triangles at the top of either side. A pleasing example with a nice ancient patina. 6 1/2 in x 5 1/2 in (16.5 x 14 cm). Cf. Between Continents/Between Seas: Pre-Columbian Art of Costa Rica, p. 201, no. 137.
