Description
A stone stirrup-shaped rocker-arm pestle or monos, Costa Rican, c. AD 1 – 500, Atlantic Watershed style, nicely carved in grey volcanic stone with nice ancient patina and pleasing style. 5 ½ in x 6 ¼ in (13.9 x 15.7 cm). Cf. Between Continents/Between Seas: Pre-Columbian Art of Costa Rica, p. 201, no. 137. Ex-Southern California private collection.
