Description
A pair of ceramic finger drums from Costa Rica, c. AD 1000 – 1550, Central Highlands, Atlantic Watershed, the first orange-ware with single small handle and light deposits, H: 7 ½ in (19.3cm), the second of ovoid shape with widely flared pedestal foot and single handle, the white slip preserved with red horizontal banding, H: 4 ½ in (11.4 cm). cf. Lothrop 'Pottery of Costa Rica and Nicaragua' Vol. II. p. 377 for similar examples; Ex Southern California private collection.
