“Metamorphoses” which is one of the most important sources of mythology.
This 1661 printing from the complete works of Ovid includes two of his more well-known works “Fasti” and “Tristia.” ‘Fasti’ survives in six books each dedicated to the first six months of the Roman calendar explaining the origins of Roman festivals and customs in each month, mythological stories and giving explanation to the relevance of astronomy and the zodiac to agriculture. ‘Tristia,’ or ‘Sorrows’ is a series of letters written as poems to friends most of which are apologizing for or defending his own poetry.
This Latin edition, published in the Netherlands, features the edits of Cornelius Schrevelius.
