Description
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 125 to 250 CE. A round-bottomed, polychrome effigy vessel of a generally globular form depicting a highly decorated male shaman who holds ceremonial implements in both hands, perhaps weapons or musical instruments. His expressive face features tattoo-like marks surrounding his eyes, a pointy nose, and full lips, and is capped by a headband/headdress with prominent zoomorphic horns/ears. Adding to his regalia is a white tunic/vest with 'beaded' and fringed sleeves. Finely painted with vivid polychrome pigments in hues of red, cream, white, and black. Size: 5.5" H (14 cm)
