Description
A pair of Egyptian solar disk amulets, Late Period - Ptolemaic, c. 664 - 30 BC, each a circular disk set atop a rectangular base, one in light green faience, 18 x 18 mm, and the second green speckled serpentine,18 x 19 mm. Both very well-preserved. Amulets such as these allowed the deceased to be united with the sun god Ra during his passage across the sky and through the Underworld to be reborn each morning. Ex estate of a Danish Egyptologist, acquired in the 1970's.
