Description
A large and attractive Egyptian faience amulet of Shu, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, depicted kneeling on integral base, wearing striated wig, kilt and false beard; a solar disk atop his head. His arms are held aloft supporting the sky overhead. The green glaze well-preserved and just an outstanding example! H: 2 1/8 in (5.4 cm). Mounted on old tiered base. Ex collection of Prof. Michael Stephen Patrick, Eastham, UK, acquired in the 1960's.
