Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine cast bronze statue of a horse, depicted striding forward, with one leg raised as if caught mid-prance. The horse stands proudly on an integrated, hollow, rectangular plinth, perhaps indicating that the piece is modeled after a larger statue that graced a public space in ancient Rome. The horse has a long tail and stands with its head slightly turned, its long nose given finely incised details; the legs also have finely incised musculature. Size: 2" W x 2.45" H (5.1 cm x 6.2 cm)
