Description
Roman, Imperial Period, Holyland, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful free-blown unguentarium (or perfume bottle), fashioned from a pale-green glass, with a thin overall composition. A concave base features a smooth pontil, and a lengthy neck and flared rim stem upwards from a corseted base atop the bell-shaped body. Scattered areas of fiery silver and rainbow-hued iridescence imbue this vessel with a colorful flare. Size: 8.25" H (21 cm).

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Elinor Katz collection, purchased from Barakat Antiquities, Jerusalem, Israel, in the 1970s
