Description
Roman, Holy Land, Judea, ca. 1st century BCE to 2nd century CE. A large, wheel-thrown pottery amphora with a slight recessed base, a bulbous body which gently tapers to a curved neck, a wide mouth, flared rim, and twin applied strap handles. The buffware body is decorated with a series of shallow horizontally-grooved ribs and exhibits a pale-yellow hue. Size: 8.25" H (21 cm).

Age-commensurate surface wear, small chips to base, body, handles, and rim, with light discoloration, otherwise intact and very good. Great earthen deposits, mineral deposits, and root marks throughout.
