Lot of 8 issues (7 of The New York Herald and 1 of N.Y. World), various dates in 1861, 1862 ad 1864, featuring FRONT PAGE MAPS from Civil War battle locations. Oct. 13, 1861: Two maps: Locations at Chicimacomico (NC coast) and the Fight at Salnta Rosa Island (Fla.); Jan. 29, 1862: Hatteras Inlet, Cape Hatteras and Loggerhead Inlet (NC coast); Feb. 21, 1862: The Destroyed Bridges in Alabama; March 1, 1862: Operations at Benton and Fayetteville, Ark.; Oct. 15, 1862: Battlefield of Chaplin’s Hill, near Perryville (Ky); Dec. 7, 1862: Rebel positions at Murfreesboro and on the Duck River, Tenn.; The (NY) World, May 10, 1864: Map of the “recent and coming battles” around Richmond. Lastly, and probably most important, This Herald of April 7, 1865 map proclaims in overline: “The Heading Off Of Lee’s Army.” This is the “Scene of the Rebel General Lee’s Last Struggle -- The Line of Pursuit of the Union Forces.” These papers have been removed from volumes, some loose pages, minor edge tears, content intact.
