Description: xvi, 253 + 39 engraved plates. 18x12 cm (7¼x4¾"), original patterned cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Second edition.The excellent plates were engraved by D. McClelland (of the Topographical Engineers) after sketches by Lieutenant R. H. Rush of the 2nd Artillery Battalion. Scarce in all editions. Blind and ink stamps, as well as ownership marks of previous owner.
Condition
Cloth worn, gilt faded, front joint cracking, chips lost from spine strip; hinges cracked, faint dampstaining, text legible throughout, top margin of a few plates cut off; very good.
