Description
NEW HAMPSHIRE, CIRCA 1865 A bird's eye maple cylindrical stick barometer crafted by Charles Wilder of Peterborough, New Hampshire. The rounded glass housing contains a thermometer and vernier mounted on a silvered brass plate topped by an acorn finial. The plaque is signed "C. Wilder, Peterboro, N.H.". Known as the baseball bat barometer.
Provenance: From the estate of Dr. James Hurst, Middletown, Rhode Island.
