Native American, Southwest, Acoma and Tigua, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. Two painted pottery vessels, the large one signed "L. Antonio; Acoma, N.M." on the base, the miniature signed "Yolie Tigua" for Yolanda Alvidrez, the mother of Albert Alvidrez, the former Governor of the Tigua tribe and also a potter. A stunning pair - both hand-coiled, comprised of hand-mixed clay, and finished with custom slip in beautiful black and white designs, so skillfully painted with impressively accurate lines and stylized geometric patterns! Size: larger measures 8.25" W x 5.875" H (21 cm x 14.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-Kurquhill's Gallery, El Paso, Texas, USA; ex-private El Paso, Texas, USA collection, acquired early to mid 1970s
