Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero, Mezcala, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A Mezcala standing anthropomorphic figure, finely carved and string cut from a white / grey stone, displaying an elegant minimalist aesthetic of the early M-8 type - with its broader, flatter face, sloping cheek planes that meet in the central vertical ridge which suggests a nose, the flatter temporal region, and slit mouth. An unusual example, created from an inherently attractive stone with a drilled perforation through the forehead for suspension and / or attachment. Size: 3" H (7.6 cm)
