ENGLISH SILVER LUSTRE CERAMIC GAS LIGHT PERDIFUME / CONSUMER, molded with lion finial and acanthus leaves, "BAILEY & BATKIN SOLE PATENTEES" on side and raised foot. Unmarked. Staffordshire, England. Circa 1825. 9" H.
One chip on edge of base otherwise undamaged with expected wear to lustre surface at top.
Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Leonard and Mimi Levine, VA.
Catalogue Note: A patent design for the "Perdifume" was taken out by Bailey and Batkin of Longton, Staffordshire in 1824 for the use of catching fumes from gas lighting.
