Two pair matched plus one pair unmatched white wrist-length ladies' gloves, taken from the Kennedy's 24 Central Park South residence in Manhattan. Matching pair are suede with an opening with three white buttons on each inner wrist portion. Inside each glove in red ink is written, "J. P. Kennedy." They measure 16.5'' from tip of middle finger to end, 3.5'' at the base, and 2.5'' at the wrist. Color is slightly darkened by age.

The other four kid gloves have "J. Kennedy" or "J.P. Kennedy" with "m m" underneath, written in blue-green ink on the inside. Two of them measure approximately 11'', 4'' at the base and 3'' at the wrist, and the other two approximately 14'', 4'' at the base and 2.5'' at the wrist. Two of these gloves have a couple very small holes, as if from a pin. Some darkening near the fingertips, and on one the seam has pulled and created some puckering near the base of the glove, but otherwise good condition.

24 Central Park South was the Kennedy family's New York City residence for years. Occasionally there would be meetings in the apartment, like when Robert Kennedy met there with James Baldwin, Lena Horne, and other well-known African-American writers and artists in May of 1963, to discuss the pressing issue of racial justice.

In 1982 these gloves, along with numerous other objects, were cleared from 24 Central Park South. The consigner of this item was one of the people invited to come in and clear the various objects, as he was the author of The Kennedy Curse, published in 1976 by Henry Regnery Publishing. These gloves have been in his possession since that time.
