after the model by CHARLES CRESSENT (French 1685-1768) A REGENCY STYLE BELLE ÉPOQUE PERIOD GILT BRONZE ORMOLU MOUNTED INLAID KINGWOOD BUREAU PLAT, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the inset serpentine gilt tooled black leather writing surface within an inlaid edge and serpentine molded border with relief shell cup corners, over a shaped skirt centering a quarter veneered ormolu mounted frieze drawer and two flanking bronze mounted drawers, the opposite with three false drawers with simulated paneled border mounts, within shaped foliate ormolu mounted side skirts, on cabriole legs, the knees mounted with feather plumed and beribboned diadem female caryatid busts with ruffles, beads and scrollwork details terminating in ormolu mounted scrolled feet. Height: 30 7/8" Width: 69" Depth: 37 1/4"
Condition
The leather has some mild surface scratches, small dents, a small corner chip loss, and rubbing to some of the gilt. One notable scratch near one corner of the veneer. Overall there is very minor wear to the veneer with a few possible repairs, mild losses and cracking on interior of the legs, otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
