Description
2-piece lilac silk tambour embroidered in a repeating simple white leaf pattern, bodice having pleated cap sleeve and square neckline, trimmed in blonde lace, decorated with appliquéd bands of embroidery, large lace-trimmed back bow with streamers; full skirt with gauged gathers having lilac braided binding, silk hem facing and tarlatan lining, Larson Collection label inked "Harriet Lane", referring to President Buchanan's First Lady, purchased through DLM Lot 146 Christie's auction, November 24, 1969, no further provenance found. B-36, W-28, L 54-61. (Small splits in shoulders, holes in hem binding, few tiny holes and minor spots on skirt, lace undersleeves browned, small mend on front point) very good.
