Description
1830 1ed William Wilberforce Famous Slavery Abolition Real Christianity Devotion

“Selfishness is one of the principal fruits of the corruption of human nature; and it is obvious that selfishness disposes us to over-rate our good qualities, and to overlook or extenuate our defects.”

― William Wilberforce, Real Christianity.

William Wilberforce’s “Real Christianity” has been one of the most important and long-lasting references for Christians and protestant theologians for decades. It was considered a ‘best-seller’ after its first publishing in 1797 and was reprinted into several languages just months after it hit the market. According to Project Gutenberg, this same book is accessed hundreds of a times a month! While this work’s main audience is Christian research it has much influence in the philosophy and psychology fields as well. This first American Tract Society edition is complete and includes a portrait of Wilberforce. While the exact date of this printing is unknown, scholars place it between 1830-1839, more likely the earlier.
