Item Details
Description
Donated By: Musack.org

Native American, Plains, ca. 1940 to 1960 CE. An octagonal-shaped drum head made of deer rawhide over wood, presenting a two-part painted composition; on the left is a somewhat threatening blue stormy sky with hail stones pelting the earth, on the right, an abstract image of a bear with a red arrow across its body and four paw prints above. This image suggests the courage of the bear that suffers the effects of the elements in order to protect other bears, represented by the smaller bear paws. Plains warriors admired the strength and courage of the Grizzly and aimed to adopt its powers via dreams and visions. Paired with the drum is the percussive stick with a cloth-covered end for striking. Size: 14.5" L x 14.5" W (36.8 cm x 36.8 cm)

Making music happen since 2009…

Today, Musack's mission is to give kids and teens a voice through music by providing guitars, drums, and support for music teachers - wherever the need arises.

But back in 2009, Emmy-Award winning writer/producer Donick Cary (Letterman /Simpsons / Parks and Recreation /Silicon Valley) began Musack with a simple vision - raise money to fund musical programs for his hometown high school on Nantucket Island. After a rash of teen suicides on the island, Donick thought about how he and his friends got through their teen years. Music.

Musack continues to make music happen around the world with support from people like you. All lots offered for sale in today’s fundraising auction have been donated by celebrities, non-celebrities, and local businesses. Help us help our kids - bid high, bid often!
