Description

Painted dial with Roman numerals, made without bevel with canted corner cove molding surround and drop case for pendulum with ogee terminal and open front to view pendulum, with worn original black painted finish (white dial) with gilt floral scroll work in spandrels and drop and Thos. Moore/Ispwich, below dial. Brass weight driven time only movement, with original pendulum, lacking weight. Lot includes an extensive bio of Thomas Moore Jr. of Ipswich, who was born in 1690. Thomas Gainsborough was a family friend and painted some of his clock. This clock has original cut steel hands and finish, 30 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 52 1/2" long.
