Description
Silk with multi-colored silk and gold brocade threads, backside lined with plain silk, four metal loops for suspension. China, late Qing dynasty

This large embroidery shows a charming scene with the god of longevity, Shoulao, and three little boys. The children are reaching for the peach in the immortal's hand. To the left flying bats can be seen. The embroidery is done in various techniques such as meticulous Peking knot stitch, which is also known as the forbidden stitch.

Dimensions: 131 x 217 cm
Condition: Significant wear, the silk background is very frail with many tears. Background silk is also faded and shows stains, several loose threads
