Description
Ransom E. Olds, (1864 - 1950). Automotive pioneer and manufacturer; Inventor. Designer and manufacturer of the first American car ever sold for export, Ransom E. Olds began his career as a machinist specializing in small steam engines in Lansing, MI. He changed automotive technology forever with his invention of a gasoline-run steam engine. With the 1897 patent for the first true Oldsmobile, and a design for a second model, he moved the newly formed Olds Motor Vehicle Company to Detroit. He was known in his day as “The Great Teacher”. 12¾” x 8½” stock certificate REO Motor Car Company the 50 shares were signed at bottom right by Ransom E. Olds as President. 1916, Michigan. Some bleed through at bottom center from writing on verso. Overall age toning. Small stain at top center border. Lightly punch cancelled with one affecting the signature. Fine.
