Description
George S. Boutwell (1818-1905) Politician. Boutwell served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Ulysses S. Grant, the 20th Governor of Massachusetts, a Senator and Representative from Massachusetts and the first Commissioner of Internal Revenue under President Abraham Lincoln. He was a leader in the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. 7 ¾” x 10” autograph document signed, February 2, 1854. The document is a listing of expenses for the period from January 29, 1851 through October 14, 1854, signed at the conclusion and twice in the text. Age-toned, some staining in the right margin.
