A first edition, first person account of the life of those living in Mormonism. Thomas Stenhouse and family, were against polygamy and were eventually excommunicated from the LDS Church.
This book, ‘The Rocky Mountain Saints’, was written with two purposes. The first was meant to give light to the culture of the Mormon people and their religious beliefs and practices, but secondly that Utah would have a better chance of being admitted into the Union after understanding the Mormons. Stenhouse specifically deals with polygamy, the Mountain Meadow Massacre, and other controversial matters in the Mormon life.
It is filled with 24 full-page engravings and a frontispiece of Brigham Young.
